This personal project expanded on the knowledge gained in my visual development class. I developed a story around a poster done for another class.
This story is inspired by the classic fairytale "Jack and the Beanstalk." In this version, JJ is a young boy living with his mother and younger sister. His dad disappeared when he was a child, and now his family struggles financially. When he sells the family cow for magic beans, he plants them in hopes of a miracle. The beanstalk grows overnight, and he climbs to the top. He explores the world above the clouds and finds a castle. It is home to two giants who moved away from their village in the mountains years ago. The rest of the story follows JJ and his new giant friends as he seeks to rescue his father.
The poster in this collection is featured in The Society of Illustrators of Los Angeles 60th Annual Illustration Competition (Illustration West 60).
